Configuring The System Preferences:

After opening the System Preferences, the existing user list appears on the left hand side pane. Your account will appear under My Account and will have admin level rights. Other accounts if any would appear under other accounts list. In case there are no accounts, only your account will be displayed. Once this dialogue box is opened, click on the plus sign at the bottom left hand corner to add new users.

Entering The Account Details:

Once the New Account box appears, enter the name for the account and the password for accessing it. Mac OS X automatically creates a short name for your account which is also the Buddy name for iChat AV. Once you have entered the password, you need to reenter it to verify it.

Entering The Password Hint Details:

This is optional and details can be entered by the users if they want to add a hint question for your accounts. If a password is entered incorrectly thrice, the hint would pop-up.

Granting The Rights:

If you want to allow the user to have admin level rights, you can check the box ‘Allow users to administer this computer’. While granting access to children, you can click on ‘Enable parental control’.

Creating The Account:

Once you have followed all the above mentioned steps, click on the ‘Create Account’ button to create the account.
